Got pictures of me in this cosplay? Please e-mail them to me!

This project was mainly me experimenting with new techniques and whatnot. I learned a lot from working on Sylvanas. And it’s still not even done. I still have to make her bow and re-make her hood, cloak, and possibly her leg covers. (I made them in a rush right before BlizzCon)

Most of the armor was made using a combination of resin casted details and intefoam (Sintra off-brand; expanded PVC foamboard). I sculpted a lot of the armor details out of sculpey, molded those, and then cast them out of resin and had them shaped to the intefoam armor bases.

The shoes I had to heavily modify becaue of color change and additional detailing. I purchased the leggings off of Amazon.

The panty and breastplate were made purely out of EVA foam (foam mats you find that are used in gyms and whatnot) so that it would be flexible and actually somewhat comfortable, considering how hard and uncomfortable the rest of the armor was.

I hope to finally make the bow and quiver soon, as well as re make the hood, cloak, and leg covers. When I do, I’ll be doing a photoshoot. For now I have very limited photos. Unfortunately I wasn’t completely satisfied with my debut at BlizzCon because of how rushed I was at the end, but it was a learning experience for next year’s BlizzCon – which is why I have already begun working on my next BlizzCon project!

@Irene Martinez, first of all I’d like to thank you for the kind words. :) As for the armor detailing, I wrote out on this page what I did for the reliefs. They were sculpted and resin cast. If you look at my Flickr photos, you can see more work in progress photos regarding the process.

If you have any other inquiries, feel free to ask. Good luck with your project!

  2. Hi!
First of all I’d like to say that I absoluty love your cosplay. It’s really beautiful and well-made.
I’m trying to make a Sylvanas cosplay as well, and I have a question – I hope you don’t mind. It’s mostly about the resin decor you’ve made. How did you shape it to fit your armor? I’m pretty new to working with resin, so it maybe be quite obvious but I felt like asking anyway.

@Nicoline, hello~ Thank you! Your kind words really mean a lot to me. :)
You can shape anything you’re casting out of resin, you just have to de-mold it before it completely cures. For this project I used SmoothCast 326, which has a 60-minute cure time, so about 30 minutes (give or take) into curing the resin is “gelled” up at which point you can de-mold it and apply it to a curved surface and it will cure with the contour of your surface you placed it on. Resins with shorter cast time will not work because the time between it gelling up and actually solidifying is too short.

@Vensy, Ah, that makes sense. Thank you very much for the answer. I’m rather new to armor making, so I may come back with other questions. :)
