This weekend was a lot of fun! On Friday I cooked some chicken curry for Kerry, which turned out pretty good. We went to Little Tokyo to a nice restaurant to hang out with all our AniMaid Café friends to say goodbye to Chiyo! It was a ton of fun, but it was very sad knowing we won’t be seeing Chiyo for a while.
Saturday was the Anime Expo Forum Little Tokyo Meet & Greet (long title), which was totally epic. We spent a lot of the earlier day fixing up his Soul wig and just kind of loafing around. It took me forever to get my faux eyelashes on, but eventually I got them on the way I liked them. =3 When we first arrived, people told me, “go buy a leek!” Luckily enough we were right next to a super market.. I ran in and Hayley and I bought a leeks, haha. So I had fun waving it around all day. =D
What was funny was that people actually asked for our pictures… Haha, I mean I understand it with Kerry being Soul, but I was like fake Miku. XD Quite a few people recognized me too, it was pretty cool. XD My leek eventually broke, but Kerry was nice enough to ask the guy at the bookstore to give us some tape to repair it.. :3 The guy was probably like “wtf”. xD Dinner was really nice, filling, and yummy~ People seemed to like my cookies, so [...]
So after talking with the ebay user, they decided they would send me a whole new wig and ponytails altogether, sweet deal! At least they’re thinking ahead well, cuz they decided to send me the whole thing to avoid color differences between the new ponytails and the old base wig. I’m pretty psyched. I’m going to do one of two things with the new wig. I’ll either just sell off the old one (to someone who is willing to fix it?) or I’ll use the old wig to build up the new one and make it more fuller. =3 The wig got shipped today (Sunday night as in Monday in China haha). I can’t wait to get it.
I also finally got off my lazy ass and ordered the styrene plastic I will be using to construct the ponytail accessories and my headset! I’m going to have to snag some resistors from Ben for the headset’s LEDs. It’ll be so awesome in the end! I also picked up some a cheap base headset from the swap meet. =] I spray painted that black today, just gotta build up the headphones on them now and color the microphone part of it with two teal rectangles. I’ll probably order my EL wire as soon as I get my plastic, it shouldn’t be too expensive thankfully.
irst off, today feels like a very nice day. To begin when I woke up I immediately checked my e-mail as usual, and I had received a reply to my complaint about the wig. Here’s what I sent to the seller last night:
“After spending about half an hour trying to adjust the ponytail to hide the clip, I was unable to ever get it to work right. This is unsatisfactory quality and I definitely could NOT use this for cosplay. There’s so little wig hair that even the back part of the clip (the part that you press to open the comb) sticks out through the hair. Terrible!
Is there any way I can get a replacement? Because this is really unsatisfactory.

I felt pretty bad when I sent it, but it worked out to my advantage. I got two replies from the seller. They follow as:

My dad woke me up around 8:30 am today so that we could go pick up my mom from the hospital. it’s really nice having my mom back at home with us. Though I do feel really bad for her because she still can’t see properly, still has balance problems, and sometimes has some issues with speaking… but for the most part she’s fine. All day today though I’ve constantly felt like it’s two hours later. Even now I feel like it’s 4:00 am or something, haha.
I finished off another commission today finally, so I only have two left for now! From the references I was provided, the character seemed rather silly.. so I immediately had this sort of pose/idea pop into my mind… I think it came out cute.. I hope Hean likes it. :3
So after the long wait, my Miku wigs finally came in… The wavy wig, at first, really upset me because it looks really green and weird in person.. but in photographs it looks beautiful, so I guess that’s all that matters, eh? I really love wearing it, though I’m a little afraid of dancing with it on. Wondering if the curls will undo if I bounce around too much? I guess time will tell… and I can technically learn how to make the curls/wigs to redo them if it does flatten out I guess.
I’ll get better pictures on Saturday at the Anime Expo Forum Meet & Greet. For now these are just some shots that I tried to take by myself. Headset is temporary placeholder, going to make some myself.
My other wig came in today, and I can say I’m really upset with how it is.
Today was pretty eventful and fun~! Started the day off with minor groceries; purchased carrots, potatoes, spinach (for lizard), and chicken for some curry I was going to make. The curry came out pretty good, I really liked it and both my dad and Kerry liked it, so yay!
Kerry and I walked my dog after playing a game of HoN, and after the walk I decided to check for my package… I honestly wasn’t expecting it to come in today even though it did reach Los Angeles at 4:00am. I’ve just been so pessimistic about the packages that I thought it didn’t come in lol. I almost overlooked the fact that it came in, even! But the best part about the package? How destroyed the box was. (The wig itself is fine, thankfully)
Hahaha, look how messed up that is! Kerry and I looked at the wig and it looked a bit too green, which bugged me quite a bit, but I figured it didn’t matter that much considering this isn’t my main Miku wig anyways (it’s the wavy wig). I didn’t get to try it on because we had to head out for the Green Day concert.
Yeah, so today I finally finished off one of Hean’s commissions. About time! I’ve been lazy but I finally sat myself down and finished it. I like how the effects turned out (all the shininess and whatnot). I was finishing it off when I was uber uber tired though and I made a huge mistake though haha. I resized it to be able to upload a smaller version onto here.. and then after uploading I realized I forgot to add his sword..so then I added his sword, on the smaller verison, d’oh. Oh well. It still looks fine though. I have ideas for his second commission and since the other character is more “silly”, I know just what to do.. and my cutesy style should work on it well.
Tomorrow I’ll be going to a Green Day concert with Kerry, should be pretty cool! The only concerts I’ve gone to have been … … well I completely blanked out on the name of the band… but I’m not a huge fan of them, so it was just “eh” to me, but I also have gone to a Blue Man Group concert which was awesome, but I wouldn’t really consider that a “concert”, if you know what I mean. So considering I do like Green Day’s music, it should be fun~

Sorry for not posting much at all, so much has been going on.
First off, to begin with what this weekend looked like. On Friday Kerry and I went out to go see Inglorious Basterds, which was pretty fun. What made the movie epic was Brad Pitt’s accent and the way he talked/acted, it was amazingly awesome. XD On Saturday I spent the day at home loafing about and relaxing, didn’t really do anything worth mentioning other than playing games a lot with Kerry and watching a ton of Macross Frontier.
Today, again, Kerry and I played a ton of Heroes of Newerth and we went to the Anime Expo staff dinner with Kchan, Kyosuke, Sai, and Maiyu. It was pretty fun and it had its shining moments of laughter. Especially the chicken head. Pictures follow.
