Tutorial: Custom Temporary Tattoos

Photo by snowchef. This is a really simple tutorial, but I’ve been asked how I got my Miku “01″ tattoo plenty of times so I figured I would show you guys how to easily make your own temporary tattoos! This doesn’t apply only to Vocaloid, you can make ANY kind of tattoo you want, really helpful for cosplay. There isn’t much to making these, so this will be a very very short tutorial. Materials Needed Here’s a list of materials needed to follow this tutorial ... Read More

Tutorial: Silicone Molds

In this tutorial I am going to go over how to make silicone molds to easily reproduce simple flat-faced sculpts you might make (works well for buttons, emblems, etc.). This will only work for objects that have one flat face. Here is an example of a couple of casts I already did with my mold, but this tutorial will only cover how to make the actual mold itself. Resin casting will be a separate tutorial. This tutorial will be split into two mini sections, how ... Read More

BlizzCon 2011 Day 1 Recap

Whew. This has been a rough past couple of months, but it was definitely worth it! BlizzCon 2011 just flew right on by this past weekend, and I can definitely say it was extremely epic. I didn’t get to experience quite as much as I had wanted to, but at least now I know what to expect next year! It’s a completely different experience than anime conventions, that’s for sure. I can definitely say I preferred the type of people that were there over anime ... Read More

Tutorial: Armored Cups

My most recent project was Sylvanas Windrunner from World of Warcraft. It was a very big challenge which involved learning a lot of new materials and techniques, but it was definitely a lot of fun. I’ll be writing a series of tutorials on how I did the armor, but my first one will be how I made the breastplate – or specifically how I made the “cups”. Before I continue, I need to give credit to Evil FX @ Bioweapons.com for the core of this ... Read More

2010-2011 Season Complete

Just last week was BlizzCon 2011, which ended the end of my 2010-2011 Cosplay Season. BlizzCon was a BLAST, and I will be hopefully posting about it this week! Sylvanas came out pretty well, but she’s not 100% complete yet. I plan on doing a Sylvanas photoshoot in a couple of weeks, so I’ll post up my cosplay overview then – which will include the processes I went through to complete the project. I’m already beginning to plan and construct my next few projects! Gender ... Read More

Summer’s End

Ahh, summer is finally coming to its end and classes begin in a week. I’m both excited and dreading it. I’m excited because I’ll have access to an extensive amount of information and resources (professors and library books), but I’m dreading it because I’ll have less time to work on costumes! I didn’t get too much done this summer unfortunately. My last semester ended mid-May, and I finished up all of Touhouvania Suika for Fanime; and then right after Fanime I had to work on ...
Anime Expo 2011 Recap

What can I say about Anime Expo 2011? Epic as hell, but also extremely hectic. The highlight of the convention was most definitely the Hatsune Miku concert. It was really exciting to see the concert in person, and I honestly shed a few tears of joy from excitement. Hahaha~ I arrived at Anime Expo on day 0, but I wasn’t able to relax! I still had a lot of Black Gold Saw prop work to do. So after finally getting settled down in my hotel ... Read More

Vensy[dot]net 3.0 LIVE

I’m happy to say that Vensy[dot]NET v3.0 is now live! There isn’t much new to this layout; I just decided to finally be un-lazy and make my own WordPress template from scratch. (The last version of the site was simply modified from a pre-existing theme) I can say I’m very happy with it because it forced me to learn a lot more of the WordPress codex more thoroughly. I also forced myself to learn how to properly style things using CSS instead of cheating using ... Read More

Touhouvania Suika Overview

Touhouvania Suika was a really fun project to make for sure. It was challenging, required a lot of planning, and did require some ingenious planning. The design really called out to me as interesting, but I knew it would be difficult because of all the detailing. I was very thankful for such a good reference. I know a few other Touhouvania characters don’t have such nice references, but I do believe this cosplay without the reference sheet would be impossible because of all the detailed ...
Fanime 2011 Recap

Fanime for me this year was tipsy-con. Suika Ibuki style. Fanime this year was pretty eventful, I debuted one of my most ‘successful’ Cosplays to date. I didn’t get to “party” as much as I would have liked to, but that’s fine. I can easily say I thoroughly enjoyed the convention with my boyfriend Q, Vash_fanatic, and my other friends. :) Touhouvania Suika Cosplay Page I can definitely say I’m extremely proud of this Cosplay, as it definitely was the most challenging so far and ...
